Internet explorer 6 is nearly 10 years old, this browser is a web developers worst nightmare. Ask any web developer and they will say the same thing. ie6 is a big bag of stinky terds. truly! Do everyone in the world including yourself a big favour and upgrade from ie6.. please.

Character Modeling

Before modeling a character, you can take a reference like in the image below:

Adjust image in Photoshop then use it in 3d software.

Insert image in 3d software and adjust it to start modeling.

Every person has his own style of modeling and this is the way we like it!

Generally, we use cylinder for modeling and We start from leg like in the image below:

Combined the all part and attach them. After that do the tweaking and adjustment as shown in the image below:

Then, go for foot. We have used a box and extruded it for modeling foot. As shown in the image below:

At the time to modeling take the reference according to your need.

When, you will combine all the parts, it will look somewhat like the image below:

Pixo - Character Rigging Setup

In this tutorial, we are going to explain how to construct joints. Which are necessary to animate character objects.

Firstly, you should setup the skeleton and skin it.

And these are the few basic things that you should keep in mind before rigging It:

• Never keep triangles in a character.
• Flow of the edges should be proper. Otherwise you will face problem at the time to skinning.
• Character should be unwrapped properly.
• Character should be on the grid as it’ll helpful to animator afterwards.
• Delete the history time to time before you start up with rigging.

Rigging

First we start up with setting a leg.

Select the joint tool and insert joints like shown in the image below:

Step 1

After placing joint name it properly like left_foot_hip

After that select the hip joint and mirror it in YZ.

Replace the LEFT to RIGHT. Like shown in the image below:

Then go for spine joints and name it like in the image below.

Name the joints like :-

• COG for root joint
• Spine _A and Spine_B

Keep in mind that naming is necessary in rigging.

Step 3

After you are done with setting in spine joints .Lets start up with hand joints and don’t forget to name them. Put hand joints like in the image below.

Mirror all the joints like in the image below:

Lets start up with the head joints now.

After all the placement the skeleton will look like this:

Select all joints and press ‘shift’ select the character by clicking on it.

Now, as you done with the rigging part so, you can start up with skinning them .
